About Hangzhou

Hangzhou has long been associated as one of the most important cities associated with the production and retail of silk. As the capital and largest city of Zhejiang Province in Eastern China, it is an area of many beautiful and natural attractions, including the prominent freshwater West Lake, which has reached new levels of beautification by the local government over the recent years. Throughout the past and into the present, the lake has influenced many poets and painters over many centuries for its historical relics and natural scenery. Temples, pagodas, gardens, and artificial islands can be seen in the surrounding land. The regional dialect is Hangzhou dialect (杭州话) but most people will understand Pǔtōnghuà  普通話 or Mandarin.
